Tehran is willing to resume atomic talks with the United States provided that it is handled with "respect" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

The Iranian diplomat stated solely negotiations produced results, and disclosed fresh requests had been made by mediators to restart negotiations with the US government. He claimed Iran possessed no secret atomic facilities, and Tehran was not yet able to allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to inspect bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Navigating a Complex Course

The foreign minister is treading a complex course since Iran wishes not to be seen to be proceeding from a stance of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had arisen stronger militarily and emotionally from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium on home soil that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could function on Iranian soil, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Representatives claimed on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with the US representative the US official only for the deal to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Current Situation

He continued: "We effectively endured this engagement. Our enrichment knowledge, which they intended to eliminate, stays intact. The installations and equipment, if destroyed, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the resolve of the citizens of Tehran and then the national cohesion that they targeted, but were unable to break.
